Chocolate Cake Balls

Bring these to a party, and everyone will love you. You will instantly become the most popular person. Guaranteed.

These cake balls are SO delicious and make the perfect get-together treat! For the cake I used a triple chocolate flavored cake and used cream cheese frosting with the cake to form the balls. The balls are covered in both milk and white chocolate and topped with with sprinkles and crushed Oreos. The toppings really add a nice touch since their crunchy texture contrasts with the soft cake interior! I highly recommend you make these; you will NOT be disappointed!

Chocolate Cake Balls

Makes about 50
Inspired by Bakerella

Ingredients:

1 box chocolate cake mix (I used triple chocolate flavor)
1 can of cream cheese frosting
1 bag of chocolate candy coating (or chocolate chips)
1 bag of vanilla candy coating (or white chocolate chips)
7 Oreos, crushed
Sprinkles

Directions:

Make the cake according to the directions on the box. Cool completely.

Crumble the cake into a large bowl. Add frosting, starting with 1/2 of the can and mix thoroughly. Add more frosting if needed to make the cake form balls. Roll the cake mixture into balls and place on cookie sheet. Chill them for several hours or freeze for about 30-60 minutes.

Melt chocolate in bowl and roll balls in chocolate. It helps to add a small amount of shortening to the chocolate for eaisier dipping. Lay balls on wax paper and top with sprinkles or crushed Oreos before chocolate hardens. I find it easier to melt only 1/2 bag of chocolate at a time in order to keep the chocolate hot and easier to work with.

Once the chocolate has hardened, the balls can be stored in an air tight container at room temperature for about 3-4 days.

I made these for my sister's bridal shower….people went nuts over them! We made strawberry cake bites w/ strawberry frosting covered in chocolate (chocolate covered strawberry – haha) and german chocolate cake bites (box mix with extra pecans choppped up and put in AND extra coconut) and mixed in store bought german choco frosting, coated in melted german chocolate!!!

    The combos are endless :)

@Katherine- I love the idea of strawberry ones!

@Marly- Of course these are healthy! They have the 4 most important food groups: chocolate, cake, frosting, and Oreos!
