Apple Pie {Giveaway}

In honor of fall, the folks at Pillsbury were kind enough to send me a box of apple themed goodies along with a coupon for their refrigerated pie crust. Although I have made other types of apple pie, I had yet to make a traditional apple pie. This recipe was quick, simple, and delicious!

I normally like to make my own pie crust, but using the refrigerated crust really made this pie come together fast. I took this pie over to a friends house and not a single piece was left over; which is why I don’t have any pictures of the pie sliced!

Pillsbury will also send one reader the same gift package.  The package includes: a coupon for pie crust, pie plate, apple shaped timer, apple shaped cutting board, apple slicer, and measuring cups!

There a several ways to enter:

  1. Follow @Caramel_Cookie_ on Twitter and leave a comment telling me you did so
  2. “Like” The Caramel Cookie on Facebook and leave a comment telling my you did so
  3. Leave a comment telling me if your family has any fall traditions, such as visiting an apple orchard or farm.

Contest ends Wednesday @ 5pm EST. I will choose one comment at random.  Good luck!

Note: Pillsbury provided me with the products, information, and giveaway through MyBlogSpark.

Apple Pie

All-Time Favorite Pies
Serves 8

Ingredients:

Pie dough, enough for 2 9" inch crusts
6 cups thinly slices baking apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg

Directions:

Heat oven the 375. Line a greased 9-inch pie plate with one half of the pie dough.

In a large bowl mix the sliced apples with the lemon juice. In a separate smaller bowl mix the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg together. Add the sugar mixture to the apple slices and toss to coat. Pour the apple mixture into the pie plate and cover with the remaining pie dough. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Seal and flute the edges. Sprinkle with additional sugar, if desired.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

In the fall, my family makes hot chocolate and drinks it with caramel apples on our patio. It’s on of my favorite traditions. I love your apple pie and the simplicity of a store bought crust. I usually make my own crusts too, but can imagine how quickly this would come together!

Right after my favorite apples (corlands!) are ready I go to the farm and pick up a bag and practically run home to make the first pie of the season. I get so excited for apple season.

This year we’re switching up traditions a bit – we need a change. I want to start apple picking every fall. The one thing that will never change is the after-Thanksgiving dinner drinks at my Aunt’s house. And her brother making his homemade cranberry sauce to eat with their mother’s homemade bread!

Pillsbury makes the best refrigerated crust :) If I’m not going to make homemade crust, that’s the brand I would buy! Your pie looks yummy!

we usually head to the apple farm for apple picking, we also love to make homemade apple crisp topped with whipped cream and vanilla or dulce de leche ice cream. And of course, head to our local state fairs for rides and lots of fun!

We go to a local pumpkin patch. Did you know the majority of the pumpkin used in canned pumpkin comes from Illinois? I think that’s what that pumpkin guy said.
