A Sewing Project…

I’ve been busy at work this past week so I didn’t have much time for baking. We’re trying to hire a new person and I have been spending a lot of time reading resumes and doing phone interviews. I thought with the job market the way it is we would be receiving a ton of outstanding resumes. However, with resumes from emails like “playa4eva”, “sexykitten857″, and all the misuses of “their”, “there”, and “they’re”, it’s been a lot harder than I thought.  The emails REALLY bug me. I mean seriously people, you’re applying for a job in the medical field, not a strip club–GET A PROFESSIONAL EMAIL!

Moving on, my husband and I will be road tripping it to Florida next week to watch his brother’s college baseball games. I have been wanting a camera bag to take with us when we travel but, unfortunately, I have expensive taste and Ryan won’t let buy the $250 bag I want.   So, I scoured the internet for a cheap alternative and was so excited when I found the pattern for this camera bag insert. It’s a padded rectangle holder with moveable velcro dividers that fits inside an existing purse!

Purse on the outside….

Camera bag on the inside!

Yes, I know it involves sewing but it’s super easy and even I was able to make it with my extremely limited sewing skills. It also allows for a bit more flexibility since you can change up which purse to put it in. The insert is big enough for my DSLR camera and 2 lenses–I LOVE it!!!

And, if you’re not the sewing type I’ve seen some inserts for sale on Etsy.

Well you probably won’t hear from me until after Easter so I hope you all have a very blessed Easter!

I love the idea behind this bag and am impressed with your sewing skills! As an English teacher, there/their/they’re mix ups drive me absolutely crazy!

What a fabulous job you did on this bag! Very impressed! I went to school for fashion and I’m actually in the business of bags currently. Even I wouldn’t attempt to make my own bag I think. Hats off! :)
You’ll have to let us know how you liked the bag after your trip to Florida. And good luck with finding the right person for the job.

I love this!!! I think you need to go into production. I don’t have a very fashionable camera bag, but I think you’ve got it!

I don’t think I could go into production with these, I’m really a bad sewer. Luckily this pattern was easy!
